My Musings
The Crazy Frigid Cynical Point Of View
Sigh... oh to be on vacation again... some pics of the beach and views from my deck...

It's a blustery day here! Whhheeee.
Last night, I went to go see Rachel Getting Married at the Coolidge and I really enjoyed it. It's the latest Anne Hathaway "I'm Not A Goody Goody" vehicle where Anne portrays "Kym", a drug addict who gets to leave rehab to attend her sister's wedding. And where addiction lives, you know there's lots of family dysfunctional dramarama to go with. I'd read some review that thought Anne Hathaway was miscast but I disagree. Though this really is the type of role that Jennifer Jason Leigh would really have run with in her heyday, I thought Anne really stepped up to the plate though I'm not sure she hit it out of the park. I felt like sometimes the film-makers pulled their punches a little which makes the film uneven. The wedding scene is very long. It felt like I actually attended this whole wedding.
As a sidenote, Debra Winger reemerges from who knows where to play Kym's mother and I loved seeing her. She pulls off a better return to the screen than Karen Allen did in Indiana Jones but it still felt a little like she was feeling her way back to the way to act on screen. I've missed Debra. It made me want to go out and watch A Dangerous Woman all over again. She may be difficult but she's got charisma.
Rachel Gets Married: 4 stars out of 5
Sigh... it's pumpkin carving tonight. I'm so sad that October is almost over. It's my favorite month.

I arrived at work today to find a 30 inch monitor installed for me. 30 INCHES! Oh my... as nice as it is, it's hard to get used to this resolution and to all the small print.
It is, however, nice to be able to have different programs running and to be able to see them all at the same time...
Evidently, they are trying to seduce me into never leaving my desk...

Yes, my summer sabbatical from Netflix is over and because I was a member of the class action lawsuit, I actually get 4 movies at a time instead of the usual 3 for one month. Woo & Hoo.
( The Movies... )
Apart from that, the big news of the weekend is that I made my first apple crisp. ( I actually peeled, cored and sliced the apples while watching The Visitor)... It's actually simple to make, just a tad laborious in the details. The crisp topping has oats in it and gave it a nice crunch.
Oyyy... Back to work.

Even The Remake of 'Prom Night' didn't get a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes

Well, the more noted reviews aren't in yet but advance buzz is not looking good...

I have to say I love this song...
12 out of 100 I haven't seen. I'm not sure I'm interested in seeing the remaining ones either...
